Children's Services

We provide social learning for children and teens by engaging in programs that develop new skills in a social environment. Our team of skilled and dedicated practitioners offer a range of activities that are fun, tailored to your child’s interests and aim to build meaningful friendships. Programs are run at our purpose-built facility at Moorefield Park that includes an acrobatics, circus arts, sensory and movement room, kitchen, and small group inside and outside spaces.

Early Childhood Intervention (preschool)

Our weekly play-based sessions will help your child develop the skills they need to take part in everyday activities. The Early Years Program caters for children four years and younger where they learn to share, take turns, work together and develop interactive play skills. These foundational skills are not only important for their current development, but also set the stage for future social interactions and learning. Sessions are attended by your child and a family member, and include visits to childcare or pre-school.

The Transition to School program caters for children aged four to six years where they not only learn social skills, but also about boundaries, following rules, expectations around their behaviour, and to adjust to new people and settings. Sessions are provided one-on-one, and in groups of up to six.

All early childhood intervention sessions are provided in the mornings during Victorian school terms.

Social Learning (school age)

From the outside, social learning looks like kids just playing and having fun, which they are! But they are also hard at work developing new skills and abilities including communication, social-emotional and physical capabilities. Attending two-hour sessions once a week, your child will learn about taking turns and exercising patience, sharing, accepting no, requesting space or a break, joining in a group or activities, asking for help, perseverance, completing tasks, forming friendships, packing away and regulating their body, emotions and behaviours.

Following a “meet and greet”, we will conduct a social assessment over eight to 10 weeks where information is gathered from your child’s school, family and our observations. This will help develop goals and strategies before your child joins in the social learning sessions in the following school term.

Social learning sessions run from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Thursdays during Victorian school terms.

Secret Agent Society (eight to 12 year olds)

Prepare your child for life’s social and emotional challenges, in a fun and effective way. The SAS small group program will capture your child’s attention through spy-themed gamified learning. Your junior detective will learn to recognise emotions in themselves and others, express feelings in appropriate ways, solve friendship problems, deal with bullying and cope with change.

SAS features an animated secret agent computer game, helpful thought missile action game, challenger board game and secret message transmission device game. Parents and schools will also receive resources and support to help young “secret agents” develop and practice new skills.

SAS runs over nine weeks during Victorian school terms. Further information about SAS click here

Intensive Sessions (school age)

Some young people require more intensive support, particularly around regulating emotions and managing behaviours. Our intensive sessions give school-aged children the opportunity to work alongside different practitioners such as our autism educator, behaviour practitioner, occupational therapist and early childhood teacher, to assist with their social learning.

The sessions run from two hours between 9am and 3pm, Mondays to Fridays, and may include pick up and drop off to school (if your NDIS plan includes transport).

Social Learning Extension Program

We aim to keep kids active, engaged and in a routine during the school holidays. We offer a range of different activities and opportunities for our social learning participants. These allow children to connect with different peers and activities that replicates the length of a school day. Structure and support are provided, and children are supported with a 1:2 ratio. Activities might include swimming, bush walking, board games, bike riding, movies and art and craft days.

The program runs from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, during the school holidays.

The first step to enrolling your child in our programs is to book a "meet and greet" with our team. During this first visit, we will discuss your goals and provide you with a tour of our purpose-built facility at Moorefield Park. This will be followed by a formal assessment and observation at a later date.
